NASA leaders are considering alternatives to Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft for returning astronauts from the International Space Station (ISS). Testing is ongoing to address propulsion system issues before Starliner can be cleared for return. A NASA official stated that an optimistic return date for Starliner is at the end of July. While Boeing’s spacecraft remains the primary option for returning the crew, NASA is open to other possibilities. SpaceX’s Crew Dragon is one of the alternatives being considered as a contingency plan. Starliner’s return is pending the results of the ongoing testing.
